Government Contractors Offered Cybersecurity Training and Assistance

Soon, contractors and subcontractors to the U.S. Department of Defense will be required to have cybersecurity certification at the level needed for the specific work in the contract. The new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) guidelines are thought to be the precursor to certification that eventually will be required across all government contracts. To help businesses prepare, the New Mexico Economic Development Department is hosting a CyberReady workshop May 12-14, 2021.

The training will include information on the regulatory context for government contracting, an overview of the CMMC model, and how to prepare for the certification process. With the help of New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership (New Mexico MEP) and the New Mexico Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE), companies will be evaluated for individual security needs and be provided with one-on-one assistance that connects each business with one or more cybersecurity experts in New Mexico.

The May 12-14 workshop is open to all New Mexico businesses. The workshop fee is $200.

Up to 10 companies in the photonics/optics sector may be granted up to $10,000 per company to help them upgrade policies, systems, and certifications.

Register by May 3 for the CyberReady workshop that will take place online from May 12 to 14.
