Activate NM at CNM Ingenuity is hosting its popular Ski Lift Pitch at Taos Ski Valley on February 2-3, 2026. Ten startup companies have been selected to pitch, but entrepreneurs can learn what venture capitalists look for in a fundable startup by attending the event. You don’t have to ski to participate, but why not have some fun while you learn and network?
Event organizers, who say that New Mexico is known more for its elevations than its elevators, are taking the elevator pitch to the mountain to connect the state’s best startups with world-class venture funds. Ambitious startups have been selected to pitch to fund managers from across the country while riding the chairlift to the top of the mountain. Participating presenters were selected based on their early customer validation and traction for a disruptive value proposition; high-growth potential and scalability; and eagerness to partner with venture investors to scale their business.
New for this year, Ski Lift Pitch brings 5 of New Mexico’s most promising pre-seed and seed-stage startups and 5 promising startups located outside New Mexico to pitch to ski judges on the ski lift, showcasing their innovations. Two startups in each category will win the opportunity to pitch to investors, economic developers, and industry leaders from across the U.S. for a $10,000 prize during a luncheon and program finals in the Lodge following the skiing.
Even those who aren’t presenting can connect with investors, economic developers, entrepreneurs, peers, and potential customers from across the U.S., making the event worthwhile for businesses, startup companies, and people with ideas.
The Outdoor Recreation Division and the Technology Innovation Office of the New Mexico Economic Development Department are co-sponsoring the event, along with a number of “Platinum” sponsors.
