Inventors and small business owners may be eligible for free legal assistance when preparing and filing a patent application. The US Patent and Trademark Office offers the Patent Pro Bono Program which utilizes a nationwide network of independently operated regional programs to match volunteer patent attorneys and agents with financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses to provide free legal assistance in securing patent protection.

New Tool Helps Creators Identify Their IP

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has launched a new tool to help those unfamiliar with Intellectual Property (IP) identify whether they have or need protections to support and advance their business, invention, or brand. The tool helps users identify a person’s or company’s intellectual property, and provides easily digestible information on intellectual property – patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Invention-Con Delivers Patent Information

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is sponsoring a free online convention to help entrepreneurs capitalize on their intellectual property. Invention-Con takes place online from August 18 through 20.

Participants will hear from business and government experts about turning ideas into innovations, protecting work, and accessing valuable resources. Keynote speakers Serene Almomen, CEO of Senseware, and recording artist Ansel Brown will share their insights on science, technological innovation, music, and business.
