Valencia County small businesses and startups have another resource to help them grow their businesses. The Valencia County Business Incubator (VCBI), located at 360 Rio Communities Blvd. in the City of Rio Communities, opened in August 2022 to provide consulting, mentoring, and seminars, in addition to office space and workstations.
The VCBI was a long time in the making. The idea of a business incubator was floated in 2017, and behind-the-scenes groundwork commenced in 2018 when a feasibility study indicated the need to assist food-related startup businesses. The VCBI helps all businesses — not just food and beverage producers — and the launch team claims it is the first rural incubator and the only incubator in New Mexico to fully embrace the metaverse by providing a virtual reality workstation.
Business incubation is the concept of supporting the establishment of startup businesses by offering workspace and services to help them grow. In addition to offices and workstations, the new incubator will offer technology integration, marketing support and workshops for its clients.
