Creative Industries Week, which takes place online June 3 through 9, aims to connect entrepreneurs, business owners, and community groups working in creative industries with resources to help them grow. The event is co-produced by the New Mexico Economic Development Department and Creative Startups, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to businesses in creative industries.
Creative Industries include performing, visual, and literary arts, as well as graphics, industrial design, marketing, architecture, and a host of others described on the NM EDD website found here. Definitions stem from legislation passed in 2023 to form the Creative Industries Division of the Economic Development Department whose mandate is to increase and advance creative industry-based economic development.
In addition to Creative Startups, collaborators providing expertise are the Peoh Cultural Center and Vital Spaces.
The inaugural Creative Industries Week will offer participants more than 50 speakers, entrepreneurs, investors, creatives, and technologists in lively conversations designed to foster economic opportunities for creative communities, organizations and individuals. Discussion topics include grant opportunities such as the Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) offered to working artists.
