B:Side Capital and B:Side Fund are two sides of the same mission-based lending…
organization focused on fostering the economic growth of diverse small businesses. For 30 years, both have helped entrepreneurs access friendly and affordable capital.
B:Side Capital works with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a Certified Development Company to offer SBA 504 loans for owner-occupied commercial real estate purchases, renovations, and construction. The SBA 504 loan can also be used to purchase machinery or equipment, finance land, and update energy efficiency in owner-occupied commercial buildings. The related SBA 504 Refinance Loan Program allows businesses to refinance their existing commercial real estate loans.
B:Side Capital also partners with traditional banks on the SBA 7(a) Loan Program, which offers general business financing from $25,000 to $5 million. Many banks lack the resources for an in-house SBA 7(a) expert, and that’s where B:Side Capital comes in. B:Side Capital helps banks and their customers navigate the loan process.
Not every business is ready for an SBA loan, and that’s where B:Side Fund leads the way.
B:Side Fund takes pride in creating an even playing field for entrepreneurs from all walks of life, especially those with limited resources and opportunities. Through a combination of grants, program-related investments, and loans from its funding partners, B:Side Fund has created new capital opportunities that specifically target underserved communities. B:Side Fund businesses are 49% female-owned, 43% rural-owned, 23% minority-owned, and 6% veteran-owned. Startup and early-stage businesses make up 41% of B:Side’s loans.
Assessment of loan readiness is based on the businesses’ management, business model, and ideas for growth, and loans range from $20,000 to $350,000. Take a look at the direct loan grid on the B:Side Fund website, where a downloadable desk copy can be found.
Together with its sister organization B:Side Capital, B:Side has approved over 5,000 small business loans helping to create more than 33,000 jobs injecting $9.06 billion into the economy in its more than 30-year history. B:Side serves four states, including Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.
