The New Mexico SBIR/STTR Innovation Summit will be held virtually on December 14, 2022, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM MST. The Summit brings together small businesses, federal program managers, defense representatives, experts, and local organizations vested in driving innovation through the SBIR and STTR programs. The event offers opportunities for entrepreneurs to discuss their innovations with experts in one-on-one meetings.
Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University, which is hosting the summit, maintains that no matter what area of scientific discovery you are working in, there is probably an SBIR/STTR opportunity for your business.
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs provide federal research and development funds to help eligible businesses and entrepreneurs move their innovation from idea to commercial market. SBIR Phase I tests the feasibility and commercial potential of the idea or product, and Phase II often leads to a prototype.
This year’s event will feature panelists that will break down the SBIR/STTR process for first-time applicants, discuss innovation as a business practice, and illustrate the importance of teaming and partnering. Rapid-fire pitches from federal agency program managers and the differences between grants and contracts (and what it means for businesses) are also part of the discussion mix.
