A new microgrant program has been created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and help support businesses and attractions owned or operated by a woman or a group of women that are located along the route. Businesses that meet eligibility criteria must apply by August 26, 2024, for the current round of ten $2,000 grants.
The Route 66 Extraordinary Women Micro-Grant program aims to:
- Help open new women-owned or -operated Route 66 businesses and attractions
- Keep women-owned or -operated Route 66 businesses and attractions in operation
- Help women-owned or -operated Route 66 businesses and attractions reopen
- Preserve, restore, and/or expand women-owned or -operated Route 66 businesses and attractions
Elegible businesses must be at least 51% women-owned or women-operated, physically located along Route 66, and employ fewer than 20 workers, including the owners.
