Small businesses and entrepreneurs working to solve national security challenges are invited to apply for a two-year fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The fellowship includes up to $100,000 in yearly stipend, health insurance, a travel allowance, and $100,000 per year in technology advancement support. Part of the New Mexico Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (NM LEEP) and operated by Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation in conjunction with LANL’s Feynman Center for Innovation, the fellowship offers the opportunity to become immersed in the laboratory’s technology and talent.
NM LEEP will recruit and launch five innovators to build and scale national security-focused solutions that serve the evolving technology-product needs of the private and public sectors. Entrepreneurs and start-up companies working in the fields of advanced materials, advanced computing, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space technology are invited to apply.
NM LEEP fellows will be embedded in the research ecosystems around Los Alamos and Sandia national labs for two years of immersive training, intensive technology development, and product refinement. They will have unique access to experts, tools, networks, and facilities to accelerate their technology and product development. Fellows will be paired with experienced trainers who will help fellows develop a comprehensive go-to-market plan and a pathway to raise the capital necessary to scale their companies.
The fellowship program is the result of an FY20 Venture Challenge award (formerly known as the i6 Challenge) from the U.S. Economic Development Administration under its Build To Scale program. Read more about the Venture Challenge award program here.
Applications for a NM LEEP fellowship are being accepted until May 21, 2021. View the webinar, get more information, and apply here.
