The Rural Efficient Business Program (REBP) offers assistance to small businesses and agricultural producers to reduce energy consumption, implement renewable energy systems, and increase profits.
Created by the New Mexico Economic Development Department, the program helps businesses located in rural areas (< 50,000 in population) and agricultural producers throughout the state by providing energy assessments, workflow evaluations, and financing options to increase energy efficiency.
The program taps into the free expertise of several program partners.
New Mexico State University engineers visit participating businesses in person or remotely to assess day-to-day energy usage and offer suggestions for improvement. New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership reviews workflow at participating businesses to identify changes in processes that can increase efficiency and profit. The New Mexico Economic Development Department Finance Team identifies financial resources, including grants for solar power, loans, and gap funding for building improvements or personnel hiring to enable renewable energy systems.
According to program managers and businesses that have used the program, small changes can have big impacts. Many of those impacts have been shared on the program’s website by business owners who participated in a series of interviews in 2020 and 2021.
Don’t take our word for it. Hear from past participants about how their businesses have benefitted.
