Manufacturers and makers interested in exploring automation technology can attend the Advanced Manufacturing Summit on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque. The event aims to introduce New Mexico’s businesses to Manufacturing 5.0 — the concepts and technologies that are increasing the competitive edge of U.S. manufacturing.
Manufacturing authority Peter Zelinski will discuss over lunch how “New Manufacturing Technology is Answering the Challenge of Reshoring.” Demonstrations by more than a dozen technology companies will follow the luncheon.
According to Zelinski, “Many of the challenges with domestic manufacturing that led to overseas outsourcing a generation ago are still with us, even as companies aim to bring manufacturing back, however, technologies including collaborative robotics and additive manufacturing are providing answers, both for major manufacturers and for smaller ones.”
Zelinski is a YouTuber, podcaster, writer, editor, and engineer who is an authority on the future of manufacturing. As a lead editor of two publications focused on manufacturing technology, he routinely interviews manufacturers and tours manufacturing operations. Zelinski is perhaps best recognized as co-host of “The Cool Parts Show,” the YouTube series he helped create that explores how 3D printing is changing manufacturing, along with fields including engineering, aviation, medicine, space technology and consumer products.
The lunch presentation is followed by a Technology Showcase, where summit participants can see how the integration of automation and other technologies can address manufacturing challenges. Demonstrations, which are scheduled from 1:30 to 4:00 PM, are intended to be informational; some include solutions-oriented case studies. Confirmed demonstrators and exhibitors include Assure Software, Build With Robots, CNM Ingenuity, GoEngineer, Delta Technology, Fab Lab Hub, FANUC, Heitek Automation, Neff Power, NewSpace New Mexico, Oracle NetSuite, Roadrunner 3D, Sandia National Laboratories, Sustainable Energy, Sustainment Technology, and Vention.
The Advanced Manufacturing Summit is hosted annually by New Mexico MEP, a nonprofit organization that helps businesses increase profitability and competitiveness by changing mindsets. Bringing together experts in government, industry and nonprofit organizations, New Mexico MEP offers workshops, onsite training, and system analyses that transform companies into lean and efficient engines of growth.
