The Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program offers emergency assistance to venues that were closed due to COVID-19 emergency health orders. The application portal was slated to open on April 8, 2021; however, technical difficulties have delayed the program. Potential applicants can use the time delay to prepare themselves for accessing the fund.
Shuttered venues include movie theaters, theatrical producers, performing arts organizations and venues, museums, and related professions such as talent representatives and concert promoters. Eligible organizations must have been operational on or before February 29, 2020. Previous rules said that organizations that applied for or received a PPP loan after December 27, 2020, are not eligible, however, this rule was removed. PPP recipients are eligible to apply for the SVO grant program.
Venues that meet the eligibility requirements should download the Preliminary Application Checklist. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with the hardest-hit businesses given priority.
