A leg up may be available through the following programs:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABQid<\/strong><br \/>\nEntrepreneurs and startups with a <a title=\"Scalable Business\" href=\"http:\/\/financenewmexico.org\/glossary\/scalable-business\/\">scalable<\/a> idea that\u00a0are accepted into\u00a0the ABQid accelerator program receive\u00a0mentorship intensives and stipends in exchange for an equity position. The\u00a0program\u00a0is meant to lead to next-stage investment from a group like the <a title=\"\u2018Angels\u2019 Among Us\" href=\"http:\/\/financenewmexico.org\/articles\/starting-or-growing-a-business\/angels-among-us-john-chavez-president-new-mexico-angels\/\">New Mexico Angels<\/a> or a venture fund.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abqid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">abqid.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Arrowhead Innovation Fund (AIF)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AIF\u00a0was created by New Mexico State University (NMSU) and Arrowhead Center to provide seed and early-stage investments to commercialize promising technologies developed by affiliates of NMSU. The $2,000,000 fund will make equity investments in the range of $50,000-$150,000 beginning Spring 2017.\u00a0For application period, consult Arrowhead&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu\/aif\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu\/aif<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Catalyst Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State-backed investment program launched in 2016 to invest in venture funds around the state that make seed and early-stage capital available to startups. The first round of investments were announced in the spring of 2017 and include: <a href=\"http:\/\/cottonwoodtechnologyfund.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cottonwood Technology<\/a>, Tramway Ventures, and NMSU&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu\/aif\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arrowhead Innovation Fund.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Launch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Arrowhead Center program identifies promising early-stage technologies and provides commercialization support. Services include product development and direct mentorship to assess and validate technologies, explore customer development, and identify investment opportunities.
